Montagny-les-Lanches is a small village in Haute-Savoie, in the Rhone-Alps region. The population is about 700 inhabitants called Montagnolans. They are spread over an area of 4.38 km². The commune is located at an altitude of approximately 600 metres. Montagny-les-Lanches is part of the canton of Seynod and is located about ten kilometres southwest of Annecy, between the towns and villages of Seynod, Chavanod and Chapeiry.
History and Heritage
The village was for a long time under the control of the Savoyard counts and the various neighbouring lords during the Middle Ages. A mayor of Annecy, Louis Chaumontel, lived in the castle. In 2000, the village had 380 inhabitants. Its population has therefore doubled in 20 years.
Many single-family houses and new collective housing have been built, which explains this growth. Despite this, the village has retained its rural character and still has four farms. You can go for beautiful walks on the Semnoz mountain from the village.

The commune is animated by the association Culture et Loisirs de Montagny: dances, pilates, gymnastics, management of the village hall.
The association Le Préau organises festive events to finance the school’s sporting and cultural activities.

Walking tour to Montagny-les-Lanches
To complete this route, you must leave the village by the road to Etercy. As you walk through the undergrowth, you will appreciate the fauna and flora. Walk down a meadow to the Chemin des Lanches, in the hamlets of Les Molières.
On arriving in Montmasson, the route joins the signposted path of the Voile de la Mariée. On reaching the church of Montagny, cross the small ford. This pretty loop takes two hours to complete. The slope remains very moderate.
