The Bélier takes place in the ski resort of La Clusaz. There are three versions of the event, in January for the white trail, in June for the mountain bike and in August for the classic trail.
Le Bélier, an event rooted in the resort
Le Bélier is a key event in La Clusaz. The event was born from the meeting of several running and hiking enthusiasts. From 1989, the trail was open to mountain bikes until 1999. In 1995, 2,000 participants were reached. Today, more than 4,000 participants take part every year, including some 1,500 hikers.
Le Bélier is divided into 3 events
Today, Le Bélier is divided into three variants, in January, June and August:
- The Bélier Blanc. Two snow trails and a hike are organised.
- Le Bélier VTT. 10 events are offered. Of different levels, they allow even the youngest to start running.
- The Bélier trail. 8 races are organised here, including one dedicated to children.
Practical information to enjoy the event
Whether you are a runner or a simple spectator, here are a few recommendations to make the most of Le Bélier, whatever the season. If you live near Annecy, opt for carpooling or public transport rather than taking your car. This will help the planet.
If you take part in the Trail du Bélier, be aware that dogs are not allowed on the course. So don’t take your dog with you, leave it at the hotel or have it looked after by your family.
Make sure you wear clothes that are suitable for the weather conditions. Remember that the weather changes rapidly in the mountains and that this can have an impact on the race.
