Every year in June, Annecy hosts the FIFA Animation Film Festival. This international festival has created an important documentary collection in the field of animated images. We suggest you visit the Annecy Animation Film Museum. The animated film is better known by the general public under the name of cartoon.
The cartoon museum
This museum allows you to discover the process of creation and animation of the image over a century of evolution.
Cartooning is a recent art form, as it is less than a century old. Nevertheless, we discover, and this is what is fascinating, that many animation techniques have their roots in discoveries from previous centuries.
For example, you can try out a phenakistiscope, an ancient instrument in the shape of a wheel on a handle, which, when operated, gives the illusion that snakes are escaping from the object.
Many objects like this one can be used by visitors, which will be of particular interest to younger visitors.

The museum is a five-minute walk from the Château d’Annecy. There is also a car park nearby.
