The Icebreaker

The Brise Glace is a cultural facility of the city of Annecy which offers contemporary music concerts as well as rehearsal and recording studios.

An innovative musical concept for the Annecy scene

This public facility allows artists to develop their musical practices, by training, rehearsing, recording and broadcasting contemporary music.

The building is located on the edge of the lake opposite the Albigny beach and the Bowl, which is Annecy’s main skate park. It is distinguished by its architecture made of rough concrete and glass. It is next to the former MJC des Marquisats which now houses the Annecy School of Arts.

The 1,500 m² building was inaugurated in 1998. It was created at the instigation of the mayor at the time , Mr Bernard Bosson, and his deputy for culture, Mrs Marie-Noëlle Provent.

The facility has 6 fully equipped rehearsal studios for groups and musicians as well as two concert halls: one with 483 seats and a club with 120 seats. On Friday and Saturday evenings, there are usually beautiful concerts with the artists of the moment but also with great musicians. On Wednesday evenings, the Brise Glace opens its doors free of charge to the club in order to offer groups and associations from the region the opportunity to perform at the Brise Glace. The Brise Glace is also involved in a number of musical events in Annecy.

In Da Mountains

This event organised by the Brise Glace, Alpine Records and Rêvassons is a real curiosity for music lovers and surprise. Every year, in mid-September, spectators take a shuttle bus to a secret location to attend an equally secret musical programme. For example, the first edition took place in 2019 at the Semnoz ecobivouac.
